HDUB Club Takes A Vacation

Hey All -

HWNMC has taken a little vacation... not quite sure where we all went, but we didn't exchange too many emails, therefore, there is not much to report on the traded music front.

We are, however, in the process of getting our reviews up here - I know, I know, I keep saying that... but I promise they will materialize in the next week.

Even though we're on vacation, we've added a new feature to our blog - The HWNMC Music Calendar - located at the very bottom of the page! This calendar will give you dates/times/venues/price for concerts that we think you should see in DC, Northern Virginia, Charlottesville, Philadelphia and Baltimore! Check it out!
Keep rockin' out until we return!

Love,
HWNMC

Monolith

So here is my first blog. You haven’t from me yet, mainly because I’m a rambler and I use the expression “haha” way to much. However I attended the Monolith Festival at Red Rocks this weekend and feel I should tell you about it. So bare with me here…
After looking at the line up for a few days I figured out who I wanted to see, including many hdub bands, such as Tokyo Police Club, The Morning Benders, Foals, Vampire Weekend, etc. The concert was the biggest in Red Rocks history, including 5 stages, two of which were just thrown in two rooms smaller than my normal classrooms. The size of the rooms pretty much allowed you to be in the first 6 rows of every concert. I met both The Morning Benders and CSS.
Highlights included the crazy antics of cut copy. Followed by the Fratellis… Who didn’t exactly hit it huge with the Colorado crowd… but I enjoyed it. Vampire Weekend
came out playing as they put it “every song they know.” I was wondering how they were going to sound with the type of music they play, however they really pulled it off. Their new stuff is sounding pretty exciting, so look forward to the new album coming out soon.
The next day, besides being hung over was great. Tokyo Police Club played a great set. The Avett Brother (new to me at least) were really great. They are an eclectic band, including the banjo and cello and definitely put on a good show. CSS was definitely the highlight of the day for me. The crowd was wild and of course the outfits were there to please. After the show, we went and met the members of the band. If there is any indication to how good the show was, one guy yelling “you are better than god!!!” I’m not sure what that means, but all and all a wonderful show. Ok, well I’m out… I know not the best blog... but rock on hdubbers…
